Split specimen testing

Split (Bottle B) testing requests, timing windows, payment, who may request reconfirmation, and how reconfirmation failures are handled.

The MRO sends a written request to the primary laboratory to forward a split specimen to a second laboratory. The primary laboratory certifying scientist notices the split specimen bottle appears to have slightly less volume than the primary. What is the correct procedure for the primary laboratory?

A.Forward the original split specimen bottle with the seal intact to the second laboratory.
B.Open the split specimen bottle to measure the exact volume and ensure it is sufficient for the second lab.
C.Transfer an aliquot of the primary specimen into the split bottle to ensure the second lab has enough volume.
D.Discard the split specimen and report to the MRO that the specimen was insufficient for testing.
